VOR 2004 Annual Meeting and Washington Initiative:
Agenda of events and logistics
VOR Annual Meeting Saturday June 12, 2004 9 am to 4 pm Meet, greet and learn. Network with others and learn from the presentations. Speakers include: Nancy Ward, VOR President; Thomas Nerney, Director, Center for Self-Determination; Sally Tyler, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; and Mark Engberg, Maryland State Coordinator with William Pitcher and Deron Johnson, lobbyists working with Maryland’s family/choice advocates. Continental breakfast and catered lunch included. Saturday Networking Dinner
Optional. Located at the Hyatt Regency (across the
street from the Holiday Inn). Additional cost about $20. Details to be provided
to all attendees. Sunday, June 13, 2004, 3 pm to 7 pm Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15 Learn what to do, what to say, and receive folders for distribution to Congress. The informal debriefings on Monday and Tuesday evenings are to share experiences and ask questions. The Washington Initiative Begins Monday, June 14, 2004 Stay as many days as you can to visit as many Senators and Representatives as possible. Holiday Inn on the Hill 415 New Jersey Ave., N.W. All meetings will be held at the Holiday Inn on the Hill. Attempts will be made to pair up roommates if possible. Take advantage of networking with other VOR members by staying here. American Airlines discount – New Savings Opportunity!! There is a group discount of 10% to anyone booked and ticketed 30 days or more in advance. There is a 5% discount on tickets booked less than 30 days in advance. There is also 15% off the fully refundable Y fare tickets. Most travel arrangements from June 3, 2004 through June 28, 2004 to any of the three area airports (Reagan, Dulles or Baltimore) will qualify. All reservations may be made by calling the AA group fare office at 1- 800-433-1790 . Use authorization number A6064AO when booking. If desired, reservations can also be made through travel agents, but the same group code must be used. Ground Transportation Taxi cabs and “Super Shuttle” are available at Reagan International Airport. “Super Shuttle” is $10 per person from Reagan. At the airport follow signs to “ground transportation.” Super Shuttle reservations are required only from the hotel to the airport (800-258-3826). Union Train Station is just 3 blocks from the hotel. Registration Form The cost of the 2004 VOR Annual Meeting was just $50 for VOR members and $75 for nonmembers (this fee included a one year VOR membership). Please plan to join us next year! |
