Annual Meeting and Washington InitiativeSponsorship Opportunities
About VORVoice of the Retarded supports the right of individuals and families to choose the residential setting most appropriate to the needs of each individual. We advocate for a full range of quality choices including large public and private residential campuses, home care and community based settings. VOR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer board of directors.
VOR membership includes several thousand family members, organizations, companies, facilities, professionals and educators from around the country. The year round focus includes advocacy for all residential choices, family participation in decision making, significant legal cases, special education choices and quality care for all.
About the conferenceVOR hosts an Annual Meeting and Washington Initiative in our national capital because these issues are national. VOR members visit every Congressional office to advocate for choice and quality care for people with mental retardation. This year the topic will again be maintaining Medicaid funding.
The one day Annual Meeting includes educational and networking opportunities. The Washington Initiative that follows includes an educational briefing before heading to Capitol Hill to visit with every Congressional office. VOR provides extensive factual documents to leave for each Senator and Representative for later reference. Debriefings provide an opportunity to network, compare conversations with policymakers, and track progress on issues.
To ensure maximum participation, VOR asks only for modest conference fees ($50 per person). The balance of the conference cost is covered by the generous support of sponsors and contributors who value our work.
Why you should be a sponsorThe attendees are influential members of organizations and effective leaders and advocates who report back locally on the Annual Meeting and Initiative.
This is your opportunity to have your name associated nationally with support for Medicaid funding. Past sponsors have had success reaching these hard to locate individuals and organizations around the country. Do our efforts to support ongoing Medicaid funding for people with disabilities help you too? If so, please help us be heard in Washington D.C. as we speak with every single Congressional office about maintaining or increasing Medicaid funding.
